Rescue patrol set to hit the roads today

The Ministry of Interior launches today the rescue police ‘Al Fazaa’, a force that is expected to enhance public security and ease of traffic on Qatar’s roads.

Al Fazaa, which means rescue, has been established to provide social and humanitarian services to all the residents of the country, an official spokesman yesterday said.

Additionally, the force will play a role in maintaining public order through its presence on the roads as well as speedier movement of traffic and intense surveillance on all central and suburban routes.

Other mandates for the force include decongesting blocked traffic, nabbing rule violators, ensuring road safety, responding to all situations that require immediate intervention and extending help in case of emergencies.

“The launching of the Al Fazaa patrol falls under the framework of the Ministry of Interior to spread a security blanket over the country by covering all areas and outer roads so as to achieve stability, law and order and discipline in addition to ensuring the safety of the residents,” the official said.

Al Fazaa will also be available to other departments at the ministry as and when their services are needed, the official added.
